A monthly Meta Ads client report template
Template · 2 min read · Updated 2026-10-06 · By the Cofoundr team
A report clients actually read has a headline, results against target, a few plain-language points on what happened, what you changed, what you learned and what you will do next. Keep it to one page, and write the summary yourself or edit what is drafted.
Clients forward a report if it is short, honest and clear about what happens next. They skim it if it is a wall of metrics. This template gives you the structure and example wording, so a monthly report takes minutes of thinking rather than hours of formatting.
The structure
- Headline: one sentence on how the month went.
- Results against target: spend, results, cost per result, with the client's target beside them.
- What happened: three short points that explain the numbers.
- What we changed: the actions you took and why.
- What we learned: one or two findings worth keeping.
- Next month: the plan and any decision you need from the client.
Example wording for a good month
Headline (example numbers): Cost per lead came in at 14% under target while lead volume held steady. Then explain the cause in plain words, such as a creative that held attention or a budget shift to the best ad set, and what you will do to keep it going.
Example wording for a bad month
Headline: Cost per lead rose above target in the second half of the month. Say why, if you know: audience fatigue, a landing page change, seasonality. Say what you changed and what you will test next. A clear explanation and a plan keeps trust better than silence or spin.
Keep it honest and short
- Always show the target beside the result.
- Use the same period and the ad account's own timezone, so numbers match what the client sees in Meta.
- Name results correctly for the objective, such as leads, purchases or app installs.
- Cut anything the client would not act on.
- End with one clear ask or decision.
Delivery and rhythm
Send it on the same day each month. Confirm it was delivered. Offer a short call for clients who prefer to talk it through.
Where Cofoundr helps
Cofoundr builds the report from live data, compares it with the previous period, drafts a summary and recommendations, and sends it on your schedule under your agency name on paid plans. You edit the wording and press send, or let it go out on schedule. See report automation.

How long should a client report be?
Short enough to read in a couple of minutes. One page of summary with the detail behind it is a good shape.
Should I send reports weekly or monthly?
Many agencies send a short weekly update for active campaigns and a fuller monthly review. Choose a rhythm you can keep every time.
What if the results are bad?
Say so early, explain why as best you know, and show the plan. Clients forgive a bad month far more readily than a surprise.
