How it decides
- Every hour we read public signals: Meta's own status feed, advertiser complaints in public communities, Google search interest for problems such as "ads manager not working", Wikipedia pageviews for Facebook, and country internet outages.
- Each signal is compared with its own last 28 days. A day is flagged only when it is unusually high, and the strongest flag needs two signals to agree or Meta to confirm an incident.
- Green is a normal day. Orange is a bad day: something is unusually high. Red is a very bad day: confirmed by Meta or by several signals at once.
- Country dots use the signals that can be tied to a country: search interest, Wikipedia in the local language, complaints that name the country and internet outages. A Meta incident applies to every country.
How to use the result
This shows how much people are reporting problems. It does not measure ad performance and it is not an outage guarantee. If it shows a bad day and your numbers dropped, wait before making big changes and check Meta's status page. If it shows a normal day and your numbers dropped, look at your own account first.
Where the data comes from
Common questions
Is this real time?
Community reports, Meta's status and internet outages are read every hour. Search and Wikipedia data arrive about a day behind, so those signals describe the last complete day.
Does an orange or red dot mean Meta is down?
No. It means problem reports are unusually high. Only an incident listed on Meta's own status page confirms a Meta issue, and this page shows when one is active.
Where does the data come from?
Meta's public status feed, public Reddit communities, Google Trends, Wikipedia pageviews, IODA internet outage data and Google News links. All are free and public. We keep only titles and links, never user names.
Why are some countries always green?
Where search or community volume is too low to judge, we do not guess. A green dot can mean normal or not enough data, and the country panel says which.
How is this different from checking my own numbers?
Ads Manager compares you with yourself. This shows whether other advertisers are reporting problems at the same time, which helps you decide if it is Meta or your account.
What should I do on a bad day?
Avoid big budget or creative changes based on one day of weak numbers, check Meta's status page and your account's delivery and review status, and compare again tomorrow.
